Organizational Leadership

Effective organizational leadership is critical because it tends to drive all other systems. “Successful maximization of organizational leadership capacity will be dependent on leadership skills and the ability to leverage innovation and creativity,” (DiLiello, 2006). Effective self-leadership is imperative to company survival, in addition to innovation is the key to organization wellbeing. During hard economic times, innovation is well known and accepted as the main promoter of industrial growth and organizations have incorporated this strategy into their decision making. “The need to integrate profits, people, and the planet for the betterment of current and future generations has given new meaning to innovation and sustainability,“ (Waite, 2014). Organizations can maintain a competitive advantage if they pay attention to innovation and include sustainability which will lead to success.

Sustainable innovation and effective leadership are linked, allowing future generations to live their lives as want. The information technology era has been driven by the maturing of an information society. The industrial revolution was driven by the James Watt’s steam engine; the information technology society has been developing rapidly because of consumers unsatisfying need for immediate information and service. To remain competitive, all business must understand their marketplace, the competition (internationally, nationally and virtually), demographics, change in economics, cultural and labor force diversity.“Technology which offers real-time, global communications, a vastly improved number crunching capability, and a quantum leap in miniaturized database storage, retrieval, and display facilities would, understandably, be viewed as having a major impact on just what managers do and how they do it”, (Dolenga, 1992). Sustainability paradigms are becoming popular in the e-business marketplace because participants in this industry must become creative to remain competitive. This includes the restructuring of their organization especially if the company decides to utilize SAP, Oracle, BAAN or Peoplesoft, these systems are referred to as enterprise resource planning (ERP).
